Fraiday, November 23, is the 203thrid Anniversary of the birth of Americas 14th President, Franklin Pierce. Speedy replacement by Americas 15th President. At the time he was elected President in 1852, 42 year old Franklin Pierce became the youngest man in history to win that office. A stead Supporter of President Andrew Jackson in the 1830’s, he was dubbed “young-hickory” in an allusion to Jackson’s Famous nickname”old hickory”. Franklin was a alcoholic who lacked Self-confidence and often combated his feelings of inadequacy by granting inappropriate favors. He married Jane Means Appleton on November 10,1834. The couple had three sons. Their first son died three day after birth and another died at the age four from typhus. After his election and before the inauguration, his son , 11 year-old, Benjamin, was killed in a train wreak although his parents escaped unharmed from the same train wreak. Franklins greatest accomplishment was being the young person to be elected in history.
